The Business Education Program was developed by the Lackawanna County Workforce Development Board (WDB) in order to teach Middle School students (target grades 6th, 7th, and 8th) about different career opportunities within Lackawanna County.

We also work with 10th grade students on the topic of soft skills.

Our objective is to enlighten students about career options such as tech schools, college credit courses while still in High School, on-the-job-training, as well as fastest-growing careers within the county.

The goal of the BEP is to provide middle and high school students with career exploration activities. The BEP would like to teach students that there are more non-traditional routes that they may take in finding their dream career, and to better prepare them as such.  While for some students Career Planning includes a 4 year degree, not all positions available to them require such schooling. Some students may get as much preparation for the career of their choice from a 2 year technical degree or apprenticeship program. Furthermore, students will learn from Industry Professionals what the day to day tasks of the job they chose are.
